Picnic by the River - Picnic and music under a shaded pavillion. Gates open at 5 pm for people to begin decorating their tables with judging at 6:15 and a door prize for the favorite table. The band will begin performing at 6:30 pm. Tables seat up to 8 and sell for $60. Inidviduals may bring their own chairs and be seated around the pavillion for $10 each. Dining is at your leisure. Sorghum Festival - Fort Sorghum. Georgia's official Sorghum Festival, one of the longest running festivals in north Georgia. A parade kicks off the 3 weekend event. Bluegrass music, cloggers plus many other forms of entertainment add to this event which features a variety of artists and craftsmen who sell handmade goods. Sorghum is the 3rd most popular cereal grain in the US, and a staple of early Georgia farmers going back to the early 1800's. A very festive time and a great event for the entire family.
